1941 Distrito Federal plate taken at the beach in Veracruz state.  For the national series from 1937-1946, the national capital district used the D, E, and F prefixes.  No state names were used during this period.  (While you may think “D” could also be Durango, they used “U” instead.)

1966/67 Distrito Federal

A Mexican religious magazine featured this lonely photograph on its cover in 1966.   A Catholic priest stands on a lonely highway directly behind a 1961 Plymouth Belvedere sedan.  The car carries the 1966/67 DF (Distrito Federal) biennial issue, with the passenger series colors of black on white. 

1967 Nogales, Sonora

On the Mexican-US border dual towns of Nogales, Sonora and Arizona.  This postcard shows a 1964 Chevy Nova II with a 1966/67 Sonora, Mexico passenger plate on the right side of the road.  On the left, there’s a yellow 1967 Chevrolet Caprice with a 1963-base California yellow on black passenger plate.
