Is this the first Jalisco license plate? This c1910 photo shows a rear license plate (presumably black on white) with "GUAD" diagonally to the right and #33 registration number. The earliest known Jalisico state plate is from about 1920. Does anyone know about these early Guadalajara registrations?

Photographed in 1950, this street scene shows a 1941 Oldsmobile parked in Guadalajara. The two gentlemen at the left presumably own or work for Joyeria Ochoa, likely a family business. It may be father and son. General Motors had a long history in Mexico. After the company was founded in the USA in 1911, the first official representative went to Australia in 1912 and the second to Mexico the same year. On September 23, 1935, General Motors de México S.A. was formed and GM began building trucks in Mexico City. Starting in 1941 and continuing through 1999, Oldsmobile used a two-digit model designation: the first digit signifies the body size while the second represents the number of cylinders. Body sizes were 6, 7, 8, and 9, and straight six- and straight eight-cylinder engines were offered. Thus, Oldsmobiles were named "66" through "98".
The Hotel del Parque in Guadalajara was a modern building and the parking lot has several cars, circa 1949.
